Backo
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Backo (“the app”), published by QUTB Electric, handles information. We aim to be clear and accurate: Backo is a private desktop application that runs on your Windows computer. It is not a public cloud backup service operated by us.
Who we are

What Backo stores on your device
Backo keeps its working data on the computer where you install and run it. Depending on how you use the app, that may include:
- Connection settings and metadata you enter for MongoDB (such as aliases and URIs or related configuration)
- App settings (for example tool paths, default folders, encryption preferences, open-at-login)
- Backup packages you create, and a local registry/history of those packages
- Activity log entries for backup, restore, verify, and related actions
- Schedule and startup-job definitions you configure
You control where backup packages are written. Typical destinations are folders on your PC or USB drives that you select.
Google Drive (optional)
If you choose to connect Google Drive, Backo uses Google’s OAuth flow so the app can upload or manage backup files in your Google account according to the permissions you grant. In that case:
- Credentials/tokens needed for the app’s Drive features are stored locally for Backo’s use on your machine
- Google processes data according to Google’s own terms and privacy policy
- We do not receive your Google password
If you never connect Google Drive, Backo does not use your Google account.
Encryption
Optional backup encryption (AES-256) uses keys you generate or enter in the app. Keys and related secrets are handled locally according to the app’s settings. The publisher cannot recover a key you lose. If you encrypt backups, keep your key safe; without it, restore may be impossible.
What we do not do
- We do not operate a Backo-owned cloud server that stores your MongoDB backups for this product
- We do not sell your personal data
- These static website pages do not embed advertising or third-party analytics SDKs
Note: if you host these pages on a web server, that host may keep ordinary access logs (such as IP address and request time). That is controlled by your hosting provider, not by trackers in these HTML files.
Children
Backo is a technical tool for database backup. It is not directed at children.
Changes
We may update this policy when the product or hosting setup changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
